90 Day: The Last Resort couple Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi revealed there had been a death of a person close to Michael during episode 7 and how it helped fix their marriage. Angela, 56, from Hazlehurst, Georgia, met Michael, 32, from Nigeria, when he sent her a message on Facebook. She decided to meet Michael in person on the 2018 reality TV show 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 2 ahead of applying for his K-1 visa. Unfortunately, Michael’s visa journey was challenging, and so was their relationship. Michael cheated on Angela with a local woman, and in turn, she could never trust him again.
Angela made her frustration towards Michael known through verbal and emotional abuse. Yet she gave Michael a chance by marrying in January 2020. But while they were separated by distance and Angela was waiting for Michael’s visa confirmation, Michael cheated on Angela with a 30-year-old American woman he met on Instagram. Angela decided to part ways and even brought along divorce papers to 90 Day: The Last Resort, where they were going to get couples therapy. However, a tender moment the couple shared in the presence of Dr. Janie Lacy, a relationship trauma expert, might have made sure Michael and Angela will stay together when the show ends.
Michael’s Mom Died In August 2022
During his session with Dr. Janie, Michael was asked about his favorite memories of his time together with Angela. Michael said that when they got married, it was a “wonderful” experience. “My family, my friends… it makes me miss my late mom,” said Michael before bursting into tears. Angela revealed that Michael’s mom passed away in August 2022. “She was so proud of you,” Angela told Michael. Michael told his 90 Day Fiancé wife that he appreciates his wife because she comes to Nigeria to see him.
Michael Wants To Honor His Mom’s Memory By Treating Angela Right
Angela said she put all their differences aside and went to Nigeria to support her husband as he grieved the loss of his mom. “Angie loves me so much, and she has been there for me,” Michael said during his confessional. He appreciated Angela being there for him both during good and bad times. A week after his mom passed away, Angela flew to Nigeria to be with him. “Despite the fact that I cheated on her,” Michael added. To him, this is what “true love” means. Michael’s mom had accepted Angela as a part of their family. “So I want to honor my mom’s memory by treating Angela with love and respect,” he continued.
Michael Apologizes For Cheating On Angela
Michael told the expert at 90 Day: The Last Resort that he was aware of him having wronged Angela. Yet, Angela found a place in her heart to forgive him and still be with him. He turned to Angela to tell her how much he loved her. “And I am sorry for everything,” Michael said in his apology. Angela confessed that it was the first time in a year that she felt the love in their marriage. She, too, couldn’t hold back her tears. Angela had felt like Michael was an opportunist who was using her. All she needed was to hear about the love he had in his heart for her. “No more secrets. I’m just gonna tell her the way it is,” Michael promised.
