Captain Sandy Yawn is gearing up for a change of scenery.
After residing in Colorado for the past several years, the Below Deck Mediterranean boss is ready to return to her home state of Florida. Captain Sandy made this clear via Instagram this week when she posted a video of her and her partner’s glorious beach day.
“Me, Leah [Shafer], and the seagulls enjoying some of the best beaches in Florida,” she captioned the March 28 post. “Soon we will be calling Florida home.”

Captain Sandy Yawn reveals her Florida home builder went “MIA”
In 2019, Captain Sandy relocated to Denver to live with her girlfriend-turned-fiancée, Leah, a gospel singer/esthetician she met through Facebook. The couple announced they had purchased a Florida property for $1.6 million back in January and hired a construction company to transform the house into their “dream home.” However, the excitement surrounding the project quickly turned into frustration, as Captain Sandy realized the developer — Pineapple Corporation of Jacksonville Inc. — had left the home unfinished without any explanation.
“We dipped into our bank account and used every penny we had, and this is the finished product,” Captain Sandy told First Coast News in February. “The builder is MIA with all of our money.”
The captain said she and Leah were forced to hire a new contractor for an extra $800,000.
“We worked hard to pay for this house in cash,” Leah told the outlet. “And it’s gone… and now, basically, we’re paying for this house twice.”
