Recent signs and rumors have confirmed that Captain Jason Chambers, a beloved member of the Below Deck Down Under, will return for the show’s third season, much to the delight of fans. Since the premiere of Below Deck Down Under, the series has consistently received massive plaudits from fans, especially towards the cast members, none more than Captain Jason, whose leadership qualities have made him a standout star in the Below Deck franchise. Fans have been anticipating the show’s return after the events of Below Deck Down Under season 2, especially after rumors it might get canceled.

Fears about a possible cancelation grew after the revelation that fan favorite Chief Stew, Aesha Scott, left the show for Below Deck Mediterranean. However, fans received much-needed news when Noah Sampton, the senior vice president of unscripted production for NBCUniversal, seemingly confirmed during an interview that Below Deck Down Under season 3 was in production. Nonetheless, fans have been wondering what the cast’s makeup for the new season would look like since the announcement, especially if Captain Jason would be reprising his role, because there are signs the Captain himself can’t wait to get another season.

Captain Jason Wants To Go One More Time

Eight months after the finale of Below Deck Down Under season 2, Captain Jason took to his TikTok page to send a pointed message to Bravo’s producers: He wants one or ten more seasons of the show. Captain Jason, who has been very vocal about how much he enjoys his role in the series, posted a clip of himself and his daughter Saskia drawing inspiration from the movie “Kung Fu Panda.” Captain Jason and Saskia lip-synced and danced to the movie’s soundtrack, the Tenacious D’s remix of “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears.

A fan u/stingboy claimed to have stumbled on a Below Deck crew filming in La Digue, Seychelles.

In addition to showing the “BDS3” words he had tattooed on his fingers, Captain Jason captioned the post, “HIT ME ONE MORE TIME—or 10 more. I think we can all say we can’t wait too long for another season, @bravotv.” After noting the considerable wait between seasons, Captain Jason thanked the fans for hanging in there and waiting before remarking he also had no idea when a third season would happen. However, since recent reports have resolved the show’s renewal skepticism, it is clear Captain Jason would love to return for another season.

With Below Deck Down Under fans in high anticipation for the third season, rumors about the show have been flying around. However, one of the recent updates that caught attention was on the Below Deck Reddit page, where a fan u/stingboy claimed to have stumbled on a Below Deck crew filming in La Digue, Seychelles. The fan u/stingboy posted, “Walking along Anse Source D’Argent yesterday and came across the crew filming around a lunch table for an “unnamed boat show” to air in the future.” However, u/stingboy also explained the cameramen wore Below Deck hats.

Although there was no pictorial evidence to support these claims, u/stingboy’s claims match the location where Below Deck Down Under season 3 is reportedly being filmed. Noah Sampton told The New York Times that season 3 of Below Deck Down Under was filming in the Seychelles from early February to late March. Since individual Below Deck shows rarely share the same filming location, fans quickly assumed u/stingboy must have stumbled on the Below Deck Down Under production crew.

Jason Is A Fan Favorite On The Series

Captain Jason Is Beloved Throughout the Franchise

Since making his debut on Below Deck Down Under, Captain Jason has become highly revered among the show’s fans for his impeccable leadership and remarkable personality at the helm of the crew. Besides knowing everything there is to know about running a yacht, Captain Jason’s relationship with the crew and the family atmosphere he tries to create sets him apart from other Below Deck captains. Meanwhile, not only do the crew members praise Captain Jason for his leadership, but he is also a huge fan favorite, as evidenced by a Reddit poll by Below Deck fans.

Recently, a fan, u/Salt_Ad963, created a Reddit poll pitching Captain Jason against other iconic Below Deck Captains, including Captain Lee Rosbach, Captain Kerry Titheradge, Captain Sandy Yawn, and Captain Glenn Shephard. Over 761 fans voted for their favorite Captain, with Captain Jason winning the poll with 293 votes, 128 votes more than second-placed Captain Lee. Captain Jason’s win is even more impressive, considering he came ahead of Captain Lee and Captain Sandy, who are very respected Captains and have been on the series longer than him. The margin by which Captain Jason won also shows how highly fans regard him.

Jason Is One Of The Main Reasons Below Deck Down Under Has Done So Well

Captain Jason’s Impact Has Been Immense

After Below Deck Down Under premiered in 2022, the show quickly set itself apart from other series in the Below Deck franchise for its ability to balance drama and entertainment throughout seasons 1 and 2. While cast members like Chief Stew Aesha Scott and Deckhand Brittini Burton have shone and endeared themselves to fans, no one has been as impactful as Captain Jason. As the leader of the crew, Captain Jason was able to set the tone for the crew through decisive actions like dismissing Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne after their controversial behavior.

Instead of keeping them aboard, which would have worsened things, Captain Jason’s decision to ensure the safety and respect of the crew guaranteed the drama didn’t continue much longer than necessary. Also, Captain Jason’s belief in people made him hand out second chances to Culver Bradbury and Margot Sisson when he would have been justified by cutting them from Below Deck Down Under. Unlike some captains who are far from the crew and become unaware of what is happening aboard the ship or those who get too involved, Captain Jason’s perfect balance makes him an invaluable asset to the show.
