Tom Selleck fears loss of sprawling ranch when ‘Blue Bloods’ ends

The Hollywood star Tom Selleck reemerged over the weekend for the first time since his beloved show Blue Bloods got the axe. Sadly, the 79 year-old former Magnum P.I. star was accused of looking “rough” by the publication Daily Mail as he headed to the gym in Thousand Oaks, California.

Selleck Accused Of Looking ‘Rough’
This marked the first time that Selleck was seen publicly since filming the final episode of Blue Bloods last month. He has reportedly relocated back to his California ranch full-time after commuting back and forth to film the CBS police procedural series since 2010.
The Mail somewhat cruelly attempted to portray Selleck as looking “rough.” They did this even though many would argue that he looks great for someone who is about to turn 80!

“As he whipped himself back into shape, Selleck wore high-waisted shorts, a black T-shirt and Brooks running shoes – with his trademark bushy mustache coupled with a a silver beard he has been growing for months,” the publication reported.

While we would disagree with the assertion that Selleck is looking “rough,” he has been open about his disappointment over the sudden cancellation of Blue Bloods. Indeed, he fought hard to save the show. Back in May, he said that he was still hoping that CBS executives would “come to their senses.”

“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast,” he told CBS News at the time. “We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place.”

Back in January, Selleck said that he had “learned to love” his busy schedule filming the show.

“Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what?” he told TV Insider. “I want to work as long as they’ll have me.”

Selleck’s character of Frank Reagan, the fictional NYPD commissioner, has been beloved by fans ever since the show premiered back in September of 2010. In trying to save the show, Selleck pointed out how loyal its fanbase is.

Selleck Returns To His Ranch
Though saddened by the Blue Bloods cancellation, Selleck is looking forward to spending more time on his ranch with his wife Jillie Mack, who he’s been married to for 37 years.

“He wants to relax on his ranch, walk around his property, spend time with his wife and family, and travel a bit,” a source told Closer magazine in January.

“Tom and Jillie can just sit at home, cook, go for a long walk and be very content. He adores Jillie and trusts her to schedule activities or travel plans,” the insider added. “He’s looking forward to having more free time to spend with her.”It’s sad that a simple trip to the gym resulted in Selleck being slammed for his appearance by the press. We can only hope that this negative news story did not get him down too much, and that he is able to continue mourning the end of Blue Bloods in peace!
