Kate Chastain Reacts to Those “Difficult” Below Deck Med Guests: “I Have No Tolerance For…”
“I’ve got to have boundaries,” the Below Deck alum said while discussing the recent guest drama on Below Deck Mediterranean.
on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 11, the Mustique crew struggled to please some of their most “difficult” charter guests to date. In the video above, Below Deck alum Kate Chastain weighed in on the drama, and she didn’t hold back her thoughts.
As the former chief stew explained in the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 After Show clip, she was frustrated as she watched the group of guests complain about everything from the late-night snacks to the size of the tender boat.
Additionally, one moment in particular that stuck out to Kate was when Aesha Scott corrected a guest who asked why she had a butter knife (it was a fish knife), and the guest responded by telling Aesha her “caviar service sucked.”
“Listen, we work hard and we do a great job,” Kate said in the video. “Anyone who I can tell is not actually complaining about their service or their experience [but] they’re doing it for a different reason, I have no tolerance for that at all.”
“We give up so much of our lives already,” she continued. “You don’t have freedom to decide what country you’re in, you don’t get to choose what the chef is serving for lunch, nothing. Sometimes you’re like, I’ve been working for three weeks and [the guests are] like … ‘We’ve extended another week.'”
With all of that in mind, Kate declared, “I’ve got to have boundaries. And you know what, they like it.”
Kate’s work philosophy has inspired Aesha, who noted in the video above, “The way that you run your crew and deal with the guests, you are very good at setting your boundaries.”
On the flip side, Kate admitted to Aesha, “I think I could be more friendly like you are.”
