The Wahlberg family, known for their tight-knit bond, is grappling with a profound loss that has left fans and well-wishers stunned. Read on as we delve into the somber details of this unforeseen tragedy, exploring its impact on Donnie Wahlberg’s family and the wider community.

Donnie Wahlberg’s kids — Xavier and Elijah — are making their own mark in the music industry.

Donnie Wahlberg has always kept his family close, even as he transitioned from a celebrated member of New Kids on the Block to a lead actor on the long-running CBS drama Blue Bloods.

Donnie and his ex-wife, Kimberly Fey, welcomed their first son, Xavier, in 1993 and their second son, Elijah, in 2001. Although Donnie often praises Xavier and Elijah publicly, he strives to maintain their privacy in interviews and on social media. Nevertheless, he has shared a few heartwarming anecdotes about them over the years.

Since marrying Jenny McCarthy, Donnie has successfully blended their families. McCarthy, a judge on The Masked Singer, has embraced her role as stepmother to Xavier and Elijah while raising her own son, Evan.

Jenny has often expressed her admiration for Donnie’s dedication as a father, sharing a touching Father’s Day tribute on Instagram.

“You give our children someone to admire, respect, and aspire to be like,” she wrote. “You are such an incredible father, in addition to everything else you do! I’m so grateful to be sharing my life, our love, and the journey of parenthood with the most amazing man I’ve ever known.”

In the early ’90s, Donnie and Kimberly began dating after she collaborated on a New Kids on the Block album, and they quickly hit it off.

The former couple welcomed their first child, Xavier, in March 1993. Several years later, Donnie and Kimberly tied the knot in 1999 before welcoming their second son, Elijah, in August 2001. The birth of Donnie’s sons profoundly impacted his perspective on life.

“It sounds cliché, but I stopped living for me and started living for him. It stopped being about my legacy and became about my ability to provide for him. I was 23. I was terrified,” the singer told The Mercury News in 2013.

Donnie and Kimberly announced their split and filed for divorce in 2008, which was finalized two years later. Despite their separation, they’ve maintained a friendly relationship.

Music runs in the family: Xavier and Elijah have followed in their parents’ footsteps and found success in the music industry.

Xavier, who prefers to stay off social media, is the vocalist and bassist for the Los Angeles-based metal band Upon Stone.

Elijah, on the other hand, started his own band called Pink Laces. The band’s dedicated Instagram account showcases photos of him in the studio, playing various instruments.

Like his dad, Elijah’s music has reached international audiences. In 2023, he was featured on the cover of the Japanese publication Jado magazine, where he shared insights about his musical journey.

Donnie rarely posts about Xavier and Elijah to respect their privacy.

Donnie isn’t often seen with his sons — in person or online — for an important reason. During an appearance on Rachael Ray’s talk show, he shared his elder son’s wishes to stay out of the public eye.

In the clip, Donnie mentioned how he is “not supposed to” talk about Xavier on TV. “My older son— I’m not going to say his name because he’ll get mad at me if he happens to see this — but he’s in a band.”

The actor went on to describe how he and Xavier talk about music even if their tastes differ, but at the end of the day, Xavier prefers to be out of the spotlight.

Donnie also talked about how Elijah loved to perform onstage with New Kids on the Block when he was 9 years old, while Xavier enjoyed playing his own music.

Despite their desire for privacy, Donnie has paid tribute to his kids on social media, sharing occasional heartfelt messages to honor them.

On Father’s Day in 2019, Donnie made a rare post on Instagram featuring an image of him with Xavier and Elijah as kids.

“#HappyFathersDay to the millions of other lucky guys (like myself) who have the honor of calling themselves a dad and sharing in the most important responsibility that a man will ever have in his lifetime — fatherhood,” he captioned it. “Keep doing your very best! It will always be good enough!”
