Below Deck Med alum Hannah Ferrier asked Captain Lee Rosbach for advice amid Captain Sandy Yawn drama
Hannah Ferrier, former chief stew from Below Deck Mediterranean, tells Captain Lee which captains she would be tempted to return to the show for.
Below Deck Mediterranean alum Hannah Ferrier has been off of everyone’s TV screens for a few seasons, but she just revealed that there are a few captains she would not mind working for. Hannah was last in Below Deck Med season 5, where viewers watched Malia White, the Bosun for that charter season, tell Captain Sandy Yawn about Hannah having valium and a CBD vape pen in her belongings. When she found out, Captain Sandy immediately fired Hannah and had her removed from the boat, explaining, “When the trust level is broken for me as a captain, I’m not taking anybody to sea.”
Hannah and her family have been living in Sydney, Australia, and she never really showed much interest in returning to the Below Deck franchise. During her appearance on Captain Lee‘s podcast, Salty with Captain Lee, she said she actually might be open to returning but only for certain captains.
As Hannah explained, “So I am not sure it would be conducive to come back to the Mediterranean, but I always said if [Lee] or [Captain] Jason [Chambers] needed help or were stuck, I would help you guys. I don’t know about [Captain] Kerry [Titheradge]. I don’t really know him, so I don’t think I need to help him.”
Hannah Ferrier Reached Out To Captain Lee For Advice
While speaking with The Kyle & Jackie O Show a couple years ago, Hannah dropped some surprising new information about her time on Below Deck Med. Hannah admitted that she and Captain Sandy had not gotten along from the very beginning, even though editing may have made things appear differently. She said, “We weren’t friendly at all. It was every season sitting down with production going, ‘How can we get these two working together where it’s an environment where they can [coexist]?” Hannah went on to explain on Captain Lee’s podcast that she even reached out to him for advice about how to deal with Captain Sandy during Below Deck Med season 5.
Talking to Captain Lee on his podcast about her struggles with Captain Sandy, Hannah said, “I was phoning you asking for advice on how to deal with my relationship with Sandy. And I feel like I had tried a lot of different tactics.” It was evident during Below Deck Med season 5 that Hannah had been struggling to find ways to handle the tension and conflict with Captain Sandy before she was fired. Captain Lee has a reputation among the cast of the Below Deck franchise and even in the greater Bravo universe for being a confidant and mentor, so it is not surprising that Hannah turned to him.
Hannah also believes that Captain Sandy had drawn conclusions about her from watching her during a previous season, instead of taking the time to get to know her in person. As she explained, “What had happened is she had watched the show before she came on, and she made her decision about me on a few things that had happened. I think it was about 45 seconds from our first introduction, they had to stop production and be like, ‘Sandy, you can’t talk to her like that.’ Like, straight off the bat.” It can be difficult to change someone’s mind once they have formed an opinion.
Below Deck Med has had multiple chief stews since Hannah’s exit, making it difficult to form any kind of connection with the cast. Most shows in the Below Deck franchise, however, switch up the cast every season, but they generally keep a few people from each season, such as the bosun, chief stew, and captains. The hardest part about returning to a show that is already established is making sure people are willing to work with them, and the consensus from most of the captains is that they would definitely work with Hannah. While she may be a controversial casting decision, she definitely brought drama and entertainment to Below Deck Mediterranean.
