Celebrities Who Love ‘Below Deck’: From Jennifer Lawrence to Anthony Mackie

Below Deck debuted in 2013, and it didn’t take long for the Bravo series to find its audience.

The hit Bravo series introduced viewers to the lives of crew members who reside and work on a superyacht during charter season. Below Deck quickly became a major franchise for the network, with spinoffs including Below Deck Mediterranean, Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure.

As the franchise’s profile has risen through the years, plenty of celebrities have revealed their love for Below Deck. For Seth Rogen, the reality series taught him an important life lesson.

“I do like Below Deck. I think the moral of Below Deck is, if you rent a yacht, you’re a douchebag. A huge piece of garbage,” he joked on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2019. “Because that’s the moral of every episode. [It’s] like, they’re trying, they’re dressing up like f–king idiots for these people, and then no one’s happy enough.”

Chrissy Teigen‘s appreciation for the franchise led to her making an appearance at BravoCon in 2022. The self-proclaimed Bravo aficionado enjoyed the three-day fan event, which included panel discussions, a private tour of the Bravoland museum and backstage moments with several reality stars from the network.

During a February 2024 episode of their “Amy and T.J.” podcast, Holmes said he and Robach were “really into” Below Deck.

“Below Deck got us through last year,” Robach added while referring to the aftermath of the pair’s affair scandal.

During a YouTube Q&A in September 2022, McMann recalled watching reality TV on her wedding day.

“We just got married and it was really simple and short. Then we went back downstairs and [my husband] Sam [McInerney] made us pasta. We got really drunk and watched Below Deck all day,” she shared. “It was the best day of my life.”

During a WWHL appearance in February 2023, Lawrence boasted about her dedication to the franchise, saying, “I love my reality TV. I just finished all the Below Decks.”

“I love Below Deck, are you kidding me?” Rogen said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July 2020. “They’re always trying to get me to go on it, which I say no to all the time. I can’t go on it, you look like a d–k no matter what, like, you are the antagonist on the show. You can’t do it.”

Despite his devotion to the series, Rogen explained why he isn’t interested in being a charter guest, claiming, “They still want you to pay to go on the cruise! Which is crazy,” he said. “Bravo is literally sending me emails asking me to pay 40 grand to be on an episode of one of their TV shows, which is … psychotic. If that is the business model for Below Deck, I understand why there are so many of them, because that’s a good business.”

In December 2022, Applegate received a Below Deck surprise while on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“[I watch] every single franchise. I have slipped into the DMs of certain crew members who are now my friends,” the actress said before a video message from Captain Lee Rosbach played on the talk show. The captain thanked Applegate for her support and encouraged her to stay strong after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

While on WWHL with Rogen in 2015, Mackie joined in on the Below Deck love fest, saying, “At least everyone in the crew is really attractive, even the Captain [Lee] dude that’s like Santa Claus. Even he’s really attractive, great beard.”

The director broke down why he had nothing but praise for Below Deck in a Rolling Stone profile in February 2023, noting, “It’s about work. It’s about problem-solving at work when you’ve got huge personality clashes, class issues, and talk about intimate! The way that these people live on these boats, even these big boats, is crazy!”

Soderbergh praised the crew members for working hard while still finding time to have fun.

“For anybody who has any kind of job, how you get along with your coworkers and how you feel about getting along with your colleagues is a big part of your life. We spend a lot of our lives at work. I’m fascinated by the group dynamics in watching the show — especially when you watch somebody self-destruct,” he continued. “You watch a person, and you go, ‘If you’d literally done nothing, you would be in a better situation than you are now. You actively made this worse.’ That’s fascinating to me. Like, you can’t keep your mouth shut or you can’t do this. You just look at them like, ‘Dude, you’re making this worse! Just shut the f–k up!'”

The model documented her meeting with chief stew Hannah Ferrier in 2018, tweeting, “I just saw Hannah from Below Deck let me tell you, I am shaking. I so rarely ask people for photos. Thank you @hannahferrier.”

Teigen took her love for the show one step further by filming a sequence inspired by Below Deck. The video, which was uploaded via X (formerly Twitter) in 2018, featured Teigen, Legend and their friends as various crew members on board a yacht.

During an interview with BuzzFeed in December 2023, White said he loved watching Below Deck, adding, “You can pop in at any time [because there are so many seasons].”
