Frank followed in Henry’s footsteps
Frank, the current commissioner of the New York Police Department, is the son of Henry and Betty. Like his father, Frank is a widower. His wife, Mary, also passed away after battling cancer. But their marriage produced many children: Danny, Erin, Joe and Jamie.
Henry’s work as police commissioner set the stage for Frank’s career, as he chose to follow a similar path. He rose from a patrol officer to a detective and worked his way up to the position he currently holds. Since then, Frank’s tenure as police commissioner has been successful but also full of challenges. He must constantly navigate the complex world of politics, both inside and outside his department. Of course, Frank occasionally wondered whether he wanted to continue in this position. But he weathered the storm and remains a commissioner that New York should be proud to call its own.
Danny, Frank’s eldest child, continues the family legacy
Danny was Frank’s oldest child, so he set a precedent for his younger siblings. He was destined to join the family business because as a child, he dreamed of becoming a police officer. Danny’s hard work and natural investigative skills earned him a promotion to detective, a position he has held ever since. In some ways, Danny is a mirror image of Frank and Henry. Often, he relies on old-fashioned police work to solve his cases. But Danny also has a wild side, his temper and tendency to use excessive force getting him into trouble a few times.
Danny has two children, Jack and Sean. Danny’s wife Linda – the children’s mother – tragically passed away in an off-screen helicopter crash. Before her death, Linda had a successful nursing career. Danny and Linda had a fairly happy marriage, although Danny’s passion for his work was often a cause of tension between them.
Erin is Frank’s only daughter
Erin is Frank’s only daughter and she also stands out from the rest of the family – because she’s not a cop. She works at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, so she’s always served in a different aspect of law enforcement. Erin has a strict law-abiding personality, so she sometimes conflicts with her siblings when their jobs overlap. She often argues with Danny because he is often willing to bend the rules to put criminals behind bars. Even though Erin did not follow Frank and Danny into the family business, Erin was still driven by a desire to bring justice to those who needed or deserved it.
Erin has one child, daughter Nicky, whose father is defense attorney Jack Boyle. Erin and Jack were married but they have been divorced for several years. Despite some hints of a rekindled romance, they are still not officially back together and, for the most part, Erin has remained single since the divorce.
The tragic history of the Reagan family continues with Joe
Joe is Frank’s third child. He was a police officer who died in the line of duty before the show began. He worked undercover on an FBI investigation, but the corrupt cops he targeted killed him when he got too close to revealing them. Before season 10, Joe tended to be a reminder of the Reagan family’s tragic history and a lesson in the risks of being a cop.
However, the season 10 finale brought Joe back into the spotlight – as it revealed that he has a son.
When Sean receives a DNA match for a mysterious first cousin, he investigates this relative’s identity. Meanwhile, Frank meets Paula Hill, whose son, Joe Hill, is Frank’s nephew. Paula told Frank that she and Joe had fallen in love and that she had given birth to a boy whom she named after his father. Sean contacted Joe after Frank met his nephew, a detective with the New York City Police Department. The newcomer is introduced to everyone at the Reagan family dinner later in the episode.
Jamie is the golden boy of the family
Finally, Jamie is Frank’s youngest child. At first, he followed Erin’s decision to go to law school and he excelled there. But Joe’s death inspired him to become a police officer.
After graduating from the Police Academy, Jamie immediately excelled at his job. Before long, he was given a rookie partner, Edit “Eddie” Janko. They gradually become close friends and eventually they fall in love. Their romance was a slow burn, as it took five years for the duo to act on their feelings, but fans were rewarded for their patience when the pair tied the knot in the finale. of season 9.
Although they don’t have children yet, Jamie begins to consider the possibility at the end of season 10. As well as his love life, Jamie also faces many difficulties throughout his police career.
