We found the perfect Blue Bloods episode to watch for Christmas
Who doesn’t want to spend the holidays with the Reagan family?
Blue Bloods is renowned for its Christmas episodes. It’s one of most consistent when it comes to procedural dramas dedicating an episode to the holiday spirit, which is both good and bad, Good in that it provides lots of heartwarming character moments, but bad in that it can make it difficult to pick which episode to watch come Christmas Day.
In an effort to spread the Christmas cheer, we decided to select one episode that stands out from the rest of the Blue Bloods Christmas episodes. The one that showcases all of the strengths of the main characters, and encapsulates what makes the show so appealing at its core. The episode is called “Authority Figures” and it was released in season 10.
“Authority Figures” is a classic Blue Bloods episodes
“Authority Figures” has the expected amount of Blue Bloods grit, as Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) are tasked with finding out who killed a tabloid writer. It’s entertaining stuff, but the real reason to watch the episode is the realization that Danny is a Grinch when it comes to Christmas.
This is not especially shocking, given how grumpy Danny can be in other aspects of his life, but it takes on new meaning when his sons, Sean (Andrew Terraciano) and Jack (Tony Terraciano), deem him the grumpiest member of the family when it comes to the holidays.
Jack revealed that Danny told him about Santa at an early age, and his aunt, Erin (Bridget Moynahan), validates his theory by claiming that Danny did the same thing to her when she was younger. Danny even hid Christmas presents! You may be asking why this is the perfect episode to watch during the Christmas season, and it’s because Danny is eventually coaxed out of his Grinch persona by the rest of his family.
Danny Reagan is deemed the family Grinch at dinner
Few things are more fun that seeing the Reagan family on the same page, given how often they succumb to turmoil and inner-fighting. They have stressful jobs, of course, but there’s something undeniable satisfying about watching different generations come together at the dinner table, It’s a Blue Bloods tradition, but the Christmas spirit really does give it an extra kick.
