Len Cariou’s wife accurately predicted the lifespan of Blue Bloods

The CBS series “Blue Bloods” is one of the most successful shows on the network’s roster, largely thanks to the characters that have been around since day one. Even after the memorable “Blue Bloods” Season 12 finale, the series still boasts some of TV’s best characters in the Reagan family. While the heart of the family is Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), he is surrounded by relatives who are no strangers to the justice system. Among them is the family patriarch and former police commissioner, Henry Reagan, played by Len Cariou.

A few years ago, Cariou returned to his roots by putting together a Broadway show that featured Shakespeare with Broadway music, an idea he had 50 years ago. When talking about “Broadway and the Bard” in an interview with KCAL9, he revealed that the success of “Blue Bloods” has overshadowed his life. “The success of ‘Blue Bloods’ took over my life at that time, seven, eight years ago,” Cariou said. “In the middle of the third season, I thought, ‘Well, you know, I don’t sing very much and I haven’t sung Shakespeare in a while. I think I finally got everything together.’”

Few television shows have a run as long as “Blue Bloods,” but one person in particular isn’t surprised by its length: Cariou’s wife, Heather Summerhayes.

In an interview with TheAltWeb (via The Outsider), Len Cariou talked about acting alongside Tom Selleck and playing his father, even though they’re only a few years apart. In the interview, he said he was excited to work with him and that the veteran TV actor (who made his name on “Magnum P.I.” and as Richard on “Friends”) is definitely the one. their brave leader.

He also revealed that, while he had reservations about the film, his wife had a hunch about how the film would turn out. “This show,” my wife said, “you get to play Tom Selleck’s father and it goes on for 10 years,” Cariou said. “I am interested in her. First, Tom and I… Who will believe me when I say I’m Tom Selleck’s father? We are only a few years apart.”

Of course, she was right in the end, and the network renewed the show multiple times over a decade. With season 13 of “Blue Bloods” currently airing, Cariou may have to listen to his wife more often when choosing roles. In fact, he may not need to look for a new role anytime soon as “Blue Bloods” is still going strong. In fact, in a recent interview with TV Insider, Selleck revealed that he’s open to more seasons. “I have a mortgage,” he said. “I am game!”
