Blue Bloods: Bridget Moynhahan’s favorite episode is pretty intense

Blue Bloods simply wouldn’t be the same without Bridget Moynahan. Despite nearly passing on the role of Erin Reagan, the actress has given a career-defining performance over the course of the show’s 13 seasons. Moynahan has appeared in an impressive 275 episodes in this time, making the notion of picking a favorite a pretty daunting task.

At least, so we thought. Moynahan was asked about her favorite episode during an interview with CBS, and the actress didn’t hesitate to name season 10’s “The First Hundred Days”. The reason? The thrilling and unexpected scene in which Erin gets on the phone with Nicki (Sami Gayle), and then a truck rams into the side of her car.

According to Moynahan, it was a challenge that she was more than game to take on. The actress has mastered scenes in which Erin is confidently dishing out orders, or helping others to solve a criminal case, but seeing her in a moment of physical vulnerability, a moment in which her life flashed before her eyes (with her daughter on the phone, no less) was something different.

“The way they filmed it and really kind of going in close onto Erin’s reaction in the ambulance and being so stunned and kind of being thrust into that moment of mortality and how she spends the rest of the episode questioning all these moments in her life or people in her life or what’s important in life, it was really just a fun thing to play”, Moynahan explained.

Bear in mind that Moynahan has stepped behind the camera to direct two episodes of Blue Bloods (season 12’s “Hidden Motive” and season 13’s “Nothing Sacred”) so it means a lot that she picked one in which she didn’t have as much creative input.

“The First Hundred Days” is not an episode that often comes to mind when thinking of definitive Erin Reagan moments, but we can understand its appeal from an acting perspective, and it is definitely one of the least expected moments in all of season 10.
