The legendary actor told TV Insider that he thinks the ratings for the show will make some networks take notice, as it remains a popular series in their weekly lineups:
“The show is more popular than ever and I think [numbers] will grow with interest this year. We’re certainly not running out of ideas.”
Selleck is not wrong. Blue Bloods is one of CBS’s most consistently rated shows, and it serves as the network’s answer to long-running procedurals like Law & Order and Chicago PD. It’s hard to imagine CBS without Blue Bloods, which is something the actor reiterated to the media outlet.
Selleck feels the program is bigger than ever
“CBS is going to find a lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” Selleck added, before going on to explain that he’s not ready to say goodbye just yet. He asserted that he is not ready to retire and would love to play Frank Reagan in the near future. Of course as long as fans want to see:
“I don’t count the days so I can do something else. I love work. Sometimes times are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want to work as long as they have me.”
Blue Bloods season 14 will be split into two parts, meaning it will contain more episodes than the rest of the seasons. The first half will premiere starting February 16 and the second half will air later this year.
