‘Blue Bloods Is Ending But Tom Selleck Is Ready to Go For More

Tom Selleck isn’t ready to say goodbye to ‘Blue Bloods’ just yet.

It’s official that Blue Bloods will end with its 14th season – half the episodes will air this spring when the series begins on Feb. 16 and then the second half will air in the fall, so there’s a ways to go until it’s done.

But fans of the series who are saddened by its demise were recently heartened to read that they’re not alone. Series star Tom Selleck, who plays NYPD Commission Frank Reagan, isn’t ready for the end either.

He recently told TV Insider that he sees the possibilities of more stories involving the Reagan clan.

“CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” Selleck said. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.”

When the series returns this fall, the rest of the Reagan clan will be back as well: Donnie Wahlberg as Danny; Bridget Moynahan as Erin; Will Estes as Jamie; and Len Cariou as Henry Reagan will all be back for Sunday family dinners; as will Vanessa Ray, who plays Jamie’s wife Eddie Janko; and Andrew Terraciano, who plays Danny’s youngest son Sean.

It will be interesting to see if Blue Bloods ends with Frank retiring as the commissioner, but don’t look for Selleck to follow suit when the series wraps. He is currently working on his memoir You Never Know: A Memoir, which will be released on May 24, and if we’re lucky, he will finally have the time to write the next installment in the Jesse Stone series of movies.

“I’m not counting the days so I can do something else,” Selleck said. “I love the work. Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”
