A mega-yacht charter season without drama is basically inconceivable, but this season on Below Deck Mediterranean, the tension started early.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Mediterranean on Mondays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.
During Season 9, Episode 5 of Below Deck Med, Captain Sandy Yawn commented on how she feels things are going with her crew ahead of charter number three … and the outlook isn’t too sunny.

“Charter three. The wheels are falling off,” she exclaimed during the July 1 episode — and for good reason.

While heading into the galley, Sandy overheard third stew Bri Muller telling chef Johnathan Shillingford how she planned to address her ongoing drama with Elena “Ellie” Dubaich. Her idea? To be “passively aggressively spicy.”

After Sandy asked her what this meant, she became emotional.

“It means that I’m going to be angry… [but] still do the right thing,” she said.

“Are you angry?” asked the captain, to which Bri responded, “I’m just upset at this unnecessary drama that’s happening and doesn’t need to be happening. It’s affecting me.”

Captain Sandy comforted the yachtie. “It’s okay, we all get tired. We all experience this,” she said. “And sometimes people will say something with a sharp tongue… You’re so likeable…You’re gonna be fine.”

In an interview, the captain further shared her stance on the matter.

“The fact that Bri’s crying right now, I just want to make sure that she’s going to be okay. I don’t have details. I don’t need details,” she said. “It’s not my business until it’s made my business.”

While bunkmates Ellie and Bri’s struggle was re-attributed to their working habits throughout Episode 5, the root of the drama can be traced back to their love triangle with Joe Bradley. Prior to charter three, Bri hooked up with Joe even though Ellie was also interested in him.

“You give zero f-cks about me. I would never break my friendship with you over a random f-cking guy,” Ellie told her coworker during Episode 5. “It was a snake move.” Later, she added that the situation had “changed [their] relationship completely.”

“The last thing I want to be called is a snake. I never do anything with malice,” Bri responded.

Aesha Scott’s Reaction to Elena Dubaich and Bri Muller’s Drama
After hearing both Ellie and Bri discuss the situation, chief stew Aesha Scott decided she wanted to remain neutral with the ladies. When charter guests went home, they could talk it out as a group.

“Charters are so intense, it’s just go go go go go. I can’t have them distracted about anything else,” she shared. “There’s a whole thing about ‘don’t screw the crew.’ What it should say in the fine print is ‘don’t screw the crew if you can’t emotionally handle it.'”

So, will the wheels really come off? (Or rather, will the ship metaphorically go down?) Find out by watching Below Deck Mediterranean Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
