Captain Sandy Reveals the Heartfelt and Generous Wedding Gift from Andy Cohen

Captain Sandy Yawn has shed more light on her bond with Andy Cohen.
Just weeks after tying the knot with Leah Shafer, the Below Deck Mediterranean captain confirmed she had invited Andy to the superyacht wedding ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host was, unfortunately, unable to attend the event; however, he made sure to celebrate the special day with a thoughtful gesture.
“He was very generous — he sent us a very generous gift,” Captain Sandy said in a recent interview with Us Weekly. “He actually wanted to come. He said, ‘Yes, send me the invite.’ It would have been awesome to have him there but it was really sweet — his message and his gift.”

Sandy and Leah’s wedding went down May 11 on a 54-meter superyacht, dubbed She’s a 10 Too. The captain said guests included executive producer Nadine Rajabi, Vice President of Current Production for Bravo Josh Brown, Below Deck alum Kate Chastain, Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew Aesha Scott, and Chef Dave White.
“We only had a capacity of 60 people,” Sandy revealed. “So with our family and our intimate friends, it was hard to invite people that we really wanted there from Bravo. So we had the people that have been in our lives since the beginning. Because they saw me, [when] I was single when I started the show. Then everybody knows when I met Leah because that’s all I talked about… [We had] Nadine there and Josh Brown and just people that have been in my life from NBC. We really wanted people there [such as] Kate Chastain [even though] we’re not in each other’s lives on a daily basis. And then Aesha Scott, of course.”
Andy Cohen celebrates Captain Sandy’s engagement to Leah Shafer
Sandy reportedly met Leah in 2018 and popped the question more than five years later. Andy reacted to the engagement during the September 18, 2023 episode of WWHL: “Speaking of engaged, mazel tov to Captain Sandy on her engagement. That is so great. They are such a great couple. I love them together and they’re so in love, and I’m just so happy for them.”
What’s next for Captain Sandy and her wife, Leah Shafer?
After living in Colorado for several years, the couple decided to start their marriage in St. John’s County, Florida, where they are currently building a home. The newlyweds reflected on the exciting chapter during their interview with Us Weekly, saying every day with each other has felt like a honeymoon.
“At this stage of our lives … every moment we have together, we make it into a honeymoon,” Leah said. “Like, it doesn’t have to be set days. Even yesterday, we’re walking around Tampa and we just saw this little green two-seater boat and we’re like, ‘Let’s take it out.’ You know, every second is a honeymoon for us.”
Sandy agreed: “We’re just to find this kind of love at this stage in our lives and to have the acceptance by our family and friends. It really is a beautiful love story and celebration, and that’s the truth.”
