Donnie Wahlberg Reveals Jenny McCarthy Sneaks Onto His Phone During Blue Bloods Dinner Scenes

“She’s that extra person at the family dinner,” says costar Bridget Moynahan.

Jenny McCarthy may not appear on camera during Blue Bloods’ iconic Sunday dinners, but she’s still an honorary member of the Reagan family tradition.

In a preview clip from an upcoming episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Blue Bloods stars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan reveal the details about their unseen dinner guest—Wahlberg’s wife, Jenny McCarthy. “She’s that extra person at the family dinner,” Moynahan tells Drew Barrymore. “The phone is always there, and in between takes, it’s like, ‘Hi, honey,’ ‘Hi, honey,’ and we’re all, ‘Jenny!’ So she’s always there.”

Wahlberg wed McCarthy in 2014 and has starred on Blue Bloods since 2010, portraying Det. Danny Reagan, the son of Tom Selleck’s Commissioner Frank Reagan.

But Jenny McCarthy’s presence isn’t limited to Blue Bloods dinner scenes. Donnie Wahlberg reveals the sweet way the couple stays close while he films the long-running CBS series in New York and McCarthy tapes The Masked Singer in Los Angeles. “We now have the luxury of being able to sleep together when we’re apart,” Wahlberg shares. “Whoever’s going to sleep first just calls the other one. We spend the whole night together when we’re not together.”

Wahlberg clarifies that their nightly calls stem from a genuine desire to be together rather than insecurity. “It’s not that we’re insecure or that we need to do this; we love to do it,” he notes. Drew Barrymore reassures him, mentioning that he was one of the first guests to make her see the positive side of technology.

“It’s like, why not?” Wahlberg concludes. “We’re gonna miss each other, so why wake up saying, ‘Oh God, I missed you, I woke up at 3 in the morning.’ I tell her, ‘If you wake up at 3 in the morning and can’t sleep, just tap me on the shoulder through the phone, and I’ll wake up and hang out with you.’”
