Blue Bloods star Will Estes debuts new character look for season 14

The good news: Stars of Blue Bloods are back on set to film season 14 of the beloved CBS drama. The bad news? Season 14 will be the show’s last. When the series resumes on February 14 for its final episodes, one star will look very different.

Will Estes, who stars as Jamie Reagan on Blue Bloods, shared a behind-the-scenes photo from set, and fans were taken aback by his appearance. The actor strolls through the set and says, “We’re very excited to be shooting the season 14 premiere of Blue Bloods right now, which will air February 14 at 10/9 Central on CBS. See you guys there.”

Fans hit the comments section to remark on Will’s appearance. He has a dark beard and, wait, are those neck tattoos?

“love the beard but r those tattoos I see on each side of your neck?”
“Never thought I’d see Will with a beard! But he always looks great, excited for the new season”
“I’ve been a fan of Will’s since the early 2000’s, and I definitely didn’t recognize him with the beard at first, until he started talking!”
Other fans speculated on what this might mean for Jamie. Could he be undercover? One fan said, “HI BEARD 🤤 is this an undercover look or a Will look? Either way I’m so here for it!”

We’ll have to wait until February to see what season 14 holds in store for Jamie and the rest of the Reagan family!

Since bidding farewell to his role as Jamie Reagan in “Blue Bloods,” Will Estes has embarked on a surprising journey, diverging from the expected path of many TV stars. Rather than immediately jumping into another long-term series, Estes has explored indie films, guest spots on TV, and even ventured behind the camera. Embracing smaller projects and diverse roles, he showcases his versatility and commitment to growth. As audiences eagerly anticipate his next move, Estes proves himself as a dynamic force in Hollywood, continually surprising and captivating viewers with his evolving career.

Will Estes is pulling out all the stops for his Blue Bloods character. The actor took to social media to confirm that he was already filming scenes for the upcoming final season, which makes sense given similar actions by co-star Donnie Wahlberg. What fans didn’t expect, however, was a radical change in Estes’ appearance.

“Blue Bloods,” which airs Fridays at 10 p.m. on CBS, revolves around the tight-knit Reagan family, the majority of whom have chosen law enforcement as their career path. Selleck stars as patriarch Frank Reagan, the New York City police commissioner; Wahlberg plays eldest son Danny, an NYPD detective; and Estes portrays youngest son Jamie, an NYPD sergeant. While it can be argued that “Blue Bloods” is a police procedural, at the heart of the series is the Reagans’ weekly family dinners where they all sit down to catch up on life.

In that same spirit, Looper recently sat down to exclusively chat with Estes, who dished on working with Selleck and Wahlberg, almost meeting Christian Bale, and how he hopes the series will eventually end.

I think it’s slightly intangible. There are some great shows that didn’t go very long — some of my favorite shows didn’t go very long, as I think back. So, there’s got to be a little bit of luck and a little bit of kismet in there. But I think that what sets us apart from other procedurals is that we’re not really a procedural. We definitely have a lot of procedural elements, but I think we’re a character-driven drama. Our show is more so about how these character’s lives affect their work and how their work affects their personal lives and their inter-familial relationships and friendships. So, it kind of lives and breathes in that space as a drama, and that’s part of its longevity — that and Tom Selleck as the consummate leader and commissioner and patriarch of the family. I think people want to see Tom, and then we are rounded out by a great cast and great writers and a great crew too.
