Gael Cameron & Bri Muller Were “Very Surprised” by this Below Deck Med Charter Tip

Bri was shocked to learn that Chef Johnathan Shillingford wasn’t “killing it” in the galley after the guests complained.

Chef Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford may have Googled a gazpacho recipe to serve tennis legend Gigi Fernandez and her guests on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, but it didn’t affect the Mustique crew’s tip.

In addition to using a search engine to find a recipe, Jono also overcooked the guests’ final dessert of the charter, a lava cake, leading Gigi to tell Captain Sandy Yawn that the tip “represent[ed] a little bit of that” mess. However, the crew still earned a $25,000 tip, which came out to $2,000 a person.

The yachties were pleasantly surprised when Captain Sandy announced the total, and stew Bri Muller and deckhand Gael Cameron still feel that way months later.

On the June 24 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, host Andy Cohen talked to the aforementioned ladies about the higher-than-expected tip.

Bri noted that she was “very surprised” to hear that Gigi had given them the five-figure sum.

“Yes, like what?!” Gael added.

“Yeah, it seemed like the food would have made it go [down],” Andy pointed out, and the ladies agreed. However, Bri admitted that she didn’t even realize that the guests weren’t loving all of the food.

“I had no idea that the food was so bad. I thought everything was good,” she said. “I would go to bed before dessert and be like, Jono’s killing it, so when I heard someone complain about the food, it was like a shock to me. I was like, ‘What?'”

In addition to Gigi’s generous $25,000 tip, the Mustique crew received a 13,000 euro tip (roughly $15,000 or $1,250 each) from the first set of charter guests, who were represented the primary, Jacob.

While the tip is lower than what is typically expected, the first charter guests were left with no alcohol and very few provisions after experiencing difficulties with their initial provider. Captain Sandy parted ways with the provisioning company after the disastrous first Season 9 charter.
