90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Kenny Niedermeier is admitting that he does want a child with his husband Armando Rubio. The 60-year-old was already a father to four grown children when he met Armando on a group for single gay dads. The couple grew closer as friends at first, but began exploring a romantic relationship after they met in person. Kenny and Armando became the first gay male couple in The Other Way season 2. By season 3, they were married in Mexico and upon their comeback in season 5, have revealed that they aren’t really the most picture-perfect couple on the show.

Armando is a father to 10-year-old Hannah, and expressed having another baby with Kenny, who opposed the idea saying he was too old. In an interview with People, Kenny spoke in detail about growing his family with Armando. He confessed that while he spent time with Armando’s daughter Hannah in the early days of their relationship, he still thought about having a baby with Armando in the future. “And when I got with Armando, Hannah was actually four years old. Actually, she was three when I first met him, so I knew I was going to jump into something like that already,” Kenny explained. “So it wasn’t like [an] off the wall thing for him to request of me.”

Armando Never Pressured Kenny Into Changing His Mind About Growing Their Family

Armando admitted he felt as if he was pressuring Kenny since they’ve been talking about having a baby forever. He first told Kenny that he wanted to have a child in their previous season on the show. Ultimately, it became the biggest thing that created a difference of opinions, thoughts, and feelings on what they wanted to do in their marriage. However, Kenny doesn’t agree with Armando. He didn’t feel like he was under pressure to give him an answer. “A lot of people are thinking he’s pressuring me to do it and I just keep saying, ‘I’m too old, I’m too old,'” Kenny replied.

“It isn’t like I want to retire and I want to sit on a rocking chair,” Kenny joked. He always felt like he wanted to be there for the baby while it grows up. Since Kenny is 60 now, he would turn 73 by the time the kid is a teenager, and would probably be in his 80s when his child starts a life of their own. Kenny doesn’t agree to having a child at this age not because he wants to retire, or because he is done having children. He loves kids, but his age is a problem. If Kenny and Armando decided to have a baby via surrogacy five years ago, he might have agreed to it.

Kenny is seemingly not opposed to adopting an older child. But Armando wants them to have a baby of their own and thinks surrogacy is the answer for it. Armando’s wife was pregnant with their unborn baby when she died in a car accident. He could never recover from the loss of his child, and they had even picked out a name for her. Kenny understands Armando’s pain and wishes he could help him. The couple hints at a choice they make that will ultimately bring them closer. But fans will have to stay tuned to 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way to see what happens.
