90 Day Fiancé star Karine Martins hinted at a split with her husband Paul Staehle after he was found following his disappearance and wants fan to stop criticizing her. Karine, 27, and Paul, 42, have been married since 2017. Paul moved to Brazil briefly and they also welcomed their two sons in Karine’s home country. Karine has now been living in the U.S. She and Paul were separated in December 2021. A video of a domestic abuse incident that happened in the presence of their 2-year-old son was leaked, and soon enough, there was news of the couple losing the kids’ custody. Paul claimed he and Karine were back together to get their sons back in April 2023.
Recently, Karine posted an Instagram Story claiming Paul had gone missing in Brazil. She also shared an emotional tribute video to Paul with a caption written in the past tense that implied her husband was dead. However, Karine’s latest Instagram Story (via John Yates on Instagram) after Paul was officially confirmed alive is confusing.
“Just want to let y’all know that Paul showed up,” she wrote, before adding, “I have nothing to do with this so don’t send me hate mail.” Karine continued, “I take no responsibility for this.” She then tagged a woman named Izabele Medeiros. She is an 18-year-old woman with whom Paul has been romantically linked.

“Iza @tizz_ deusa posted that Paul is fine so ask him what happened before judging him,” Karine wrote in her update. Karine claimed that she and Paul “don’t have contact,” but she still worries about him. Karine felt like she should confirm that “Paul is not dating lza.” However, Karine revealed that Paul is “talking” to an older member of Izabele’s family. Fans who read Karine’s note felt like she should have addressed the video she posted suggesting Paul had died. Instead, Karine deleted the video from her page.
Karine had also reposted a cryptic Instagram Story about insurance, which again hinted at Paul’s death. “‘I take no responsibility even when I insinuated that Paul died’ Ok got it,” wrote a disappointed fan. “I have never liked her. There[‘s] something sneaky about her,” wrote someone else. One fan suspected that Karine did not even write the note herself. “Why would she make an entire memory video as if he died?” wrote a fan who accused Karine and Paul of clout chasing. Viewers are requesting Karine to take accountability for what she posted. If it weren’t for her odd posts, fans would have never assumed that Paul was in grave danger.
Paul’s mother Mary confirmed that Paul was very much alive and okay. Mary spoke about Paul being stranded in some remote village where he had to sleep on a hammock and was getting eaten by bugs. Izabele seemingly shared a photo of Paul on her private Instagram page to reveal he was brought back safely from wherever he had been. Paul himself has been active on Instagram since then. It remains to be seen if the 90 Day Fiancé alum will provide more details about his disappearance himself instead of relying on his mother, wife, or rumored girlfriend to do it.
