Marisa Ramirez plays Detective Maria Baez, Danny’s patrol partner. In the season 12 finale, Baez adopts a baby girl after the child’s mother is killed.

Prior to joining Blue Bloods in 2013, Ramirez starred in soap operas like Port Charles (2000–2002) and The Young and the Restless (2006–2007). She also appeared in the Starz miniseries Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011) and the Chicago police drama Against the Wall (2011).

In 2016, Ramirez gave birth to her daughter Violet Rae. “She’s here!!” the new mom wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) in a since-deleted post. “Little Miss Violet Rae born on Sunday May 29th!! She’s so happy and healthy and we are so in love!!!”

The entire Blue Bloods family celebrated Ramirez’s pregnancy. Her costars Moynahan and Abigail Hawk attended her baby shower, and, according to Ramirez, Wahlberg “did a little happy dance” when he heard the pregnancy news.

Actress Marisa Ramirez recently discussed her decision not to marry long-time partner Raymond Cruz. She emphasized that their choice was rooted in prioritizing personal growth and happiness over societal expectations. Ramirez highlighted their strong bond and mutual respect, emphasizing that love doesn’t require formalities. In challenging conventional notions, Ramirez underscores the importance of autonomy and authenticity in modern relationships. Her stance serves as a reminder that love comes in diverse forms and that genuine partnership is founded on respect and communication. Ramirez’s openness offers insight into navigating love and commitment in a changing world, inspiring others to embrace their individuality in relationships. Ultimately, her decision celebrates their unique bond and affirms the transformative power of love, irrespective of societal norms.

Blue Bloods fans know and love Detective Maria Baez (played by Marisa Ramirez) as Detective Danny Reagan’s (played by Donnie Wahlberg) partner. While the two have undeniable chemistry—both platonic and potentially otherwise—on screen, that doesn’t always hint toward a real-life friendship off screen. But, for Marisa and Donnie, it does.

Ever since Marisa joined the Blue Bloods cast midway through Season 3, Donnie has been a constant source of positivity and genuine friendship for the actress. In an interview with PopCulture, the actress said that Donnie was “so welcoming”—something she hadn’t experienced on other sets.

“Other jobs I’ve had… I’m three years with this person or three months with this person, but this is now… We’re at eight years,” Marisa told the outlet. “And I think our relationship has definitely evolved more so this year.”

Where many shows haven’t been able to fully resume filming, Blue Bloods has had shoots on the books, allowing Marisa and Donnie to get together in real life.

“We just love each other… I’m so excited to be at work with him and to feel safe with someone who knows me, because I feel like I keep my guard up with other actors, or crew, or whoever, and this is a place where I can let it down… It feels very safe and comfortable,” she admitted in the interview.

Thanks to their on-and-off-screen relationship, many fans are hoping that Danny and Maria will develop an on-screen romance. Only time will tell though.

“I’m a part of his extended family, and it’s a good place to be,” Marisa said in the interview. “Whether it blossoms into something more, I mean, the possibilities are endless, and I’m sure maybe they would like to explore the possibilities. But who knows? … Everybody makes different choices. Who knows what’ll happen?”
