‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ Recap: A Tense Field Call Finally Brings Maggie and Sully Closer
The penultimate episode concludes with a double cliffhanger
Megan Vick
Using Cal’s (Chad Michael Murray) hand drill, Maggie drilled three holes into Jackson’s skull to relieve the swelling in his brain. The cool thing about doing something so incredibly dangerous is that you have to concentrate solely on the task at hand, leaving absolutely no room to talk about any impromptu kisses that happened at the lake in last week’s episode. So yes, that tension between Maggie and Cal is still simmering on the stove and waiting to be resolved.
Jackson made it to the hospital, and Maggie got to see first-hand the stress spiral his parents went through as they waited for news about their son. It gave her a lot of empathy for the mom who is currently suing her and some understanding as to why Sully told Maggie to cut her some slack. That little acknowledgment and Sully telling Maggie how incredibly proud he was of her actions on the ridge brought the two closer than they had been all season.
That’s great news, right? Just kidding, this is Sullivan’s Crossing, so you should know that as soon as Sully and Maggie start to make progress in their relationship that something will come to stir things up. The penultimate episode of the season delivered two problematic cliffhangers for the father and daughter. Sully received official notice that the crossing would be foreclosed on if he didn’t come up with the money in 31 days. Meanwhile, Maggie’s court date was set with a judge who hates doctors, so her medical license remains in grave danger. Both Maggie and Sully’s worlds are falling apart. Are they finally connected enough to see each other through it?
We’ll have to find out in the season finale which airs Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8/7c on The CW. Episodes are available to stream the next day on The CW app.
