Fans have been desperately trying to save Blue Bloods ever since it was canceled by CBS in November 2023. While their efforts might not have kept the long-running procedural alive, there is still hope for a spinoff. Keep reading to see if there will be a Blue Bloods spinoff after the series finale.

Will there be a Blue Bloods spinoff after the series finale?

Although we don’t for sure, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted that there might be a possible Blue Bloods spinoff in the near future. While speaking at a Paramount shareholders meeting on June 4, the executive highlighted the success of various CBS dramas, including Blue Bloods, and spoke about expanding their respective universes. “We are building tomorrow’s billion dollar brands right now” he said, adding: “In  TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions and Blue Bloods, and CBS’ hit Fire Country shows huge promise.”

A new spinoff series for CBS’ Fire Country was already confirmed in May 2024, and multiple spinoffs for Showtime’s Dexter and Billions were publicly announced back in February 2023. Dexter will be getting a prequel series titled Dexter: Origins and a new version of Dexter: New Blood, while four separate spinoffs are in the works for Billions, including Billions: Miami.

Based on Robbins’ speech, Blue Bloods could be the next show to get an offshoot. Fans and cast members alike have been advocating for Blue Bloods to continue, but if it can’t, a spinoff would be the next best thing. Tom Selleck, who stars as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, has been particularly outspoken about CBS’ decision to cancel the long-running show, which is the network’s most-watched primetime program and television’s No. 3 broadcast drama.
Shortly after the cancelation, Selleck warned CBS that “an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye” to Blue Bloods. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas,” he told TV Insider.

Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, also hinted that the show might not actually be ending. While appearing on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live (via People) in March 2024, Wahlberg referred to Season 14 as “allegedly” and “potentially” the last season. “There are rumblings, so we’ll see what happens,” he teased.

Despite rumors of more episodes and a reverse cancelation, CBS sealed Blue Bloods‘ fate at a May 2024 press conference. “We really want to thank the cast and crew, everyone involved in the show,” Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach told reporters, before confirming that the show will be wrapping in Fall 2024 as planned. “We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give show the sendoff it deserves.” When asked about the cast’s pleas to reconsider the cancelation, Reisenbach added, “We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”

A few days later, Selleck spoke out again about CBS’ unwavering decision to end the show. “I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses,” he told CBS News. “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”
