Will Trent Season 2 Has The Opportunity To Introduce A Book Love Interest

When Will Trent season 2 premieres, the writers should introduce one of Will’s most important love interests from Karin Slaughter’s book series.

The central love story in Will Trent season 1 was between Will Trent and Angie Polaski, but when season 2 rolls around, it’s time for the writers to give Will a new love interest. Will and Angie have known each other since they were kids at the foster home. They forged a special bond that can be rare to find, but that doesn’t mean they should be in a romantic relationship.

The ABC show is based on a book series by Karin Slaughter, and both Will and Angie have significant roles in the novels, which are translated on the screen. Although the television series changes many plots and character traits from the books, Will and Angie’s unhealthy dynamic is mostly the same. So just like in the books, Will Trent needs to put an end to Will and Angie’s on-and-off relationship, and one character’s introduction could help speed that process along in season 2.

Will Trent Season 2 Is A Good Time To Introduce Sara Linton

Will Trent

As book fans know, aside from Angie, Will Trent’s most prominent love interest in the books is Sara Linton. Sara isn’t introduced until the third book, Undone, but once she comes onto the scene, it’s over for Will. Sara is a doctor who Will meets when he and Faith Mitchell take on a case involving one of her patients, and hopefully, their meeting on the page will be adapted to the screen during Will Trent season 2.

Although Will and Angie’s relationship is complicated enough, love triangles are always fun in the early stages of shows. Plus, Sara’s introduction might be the final nail in Will and Angie’s coffin, which would be for the best for everyone involved. It’s also unclear how many seasons ABC will give Will Trent, so it’s best to weave Sara into the story as soon as possible.

Will & Angie’s Relationship Is Destined To Fail

Will and Angie have a tense conversation in Will Trent season 1. Will wears a brown vest over a blue button-up shirt and a gray tie. Angie wears a black shirt.

Will Trent season 1 dove deep into Will and Angie’s complicated history, and fans got front-row seats to their tumultuous romance. They undoubtedly love one another, but their dynamic is built on shared trauma, which isn’t always the best way to maintain a healthy relationship. Angie constantly pushes Will away, making him cling to her harder, resulting in a vicious cycle.

No matter how anyone looks at the situation, Will and Angie aren’t good for one another. There’s no way this series ends with them driving off into the sunset, married with kids in the backseat. So instead of dragging out their doomed romance, Will Trent season 2 needs to break Will and Angie up for good, and Sara Linton’s arrival could aid in that undertaking.
