Betty shares the latest update on the new season of ‘Will Trent’!

The Will Trend episode, “You Don’t Have to Understand” started us off with a Betty sighting, but did we need it?

When it comes to Will Trent, while we love the show over all, we are also all about our Betty watch. We tune in every week to see exactly how the series will incorporate Betty into the storyline or if they will forgo these moments and focus on the cases.

In episode 3 of Will Trent, “You Don’t Have to Understand,” our Betty moment happened in the opening scene of the episode. This scene was all about Angie passing her physical in order to get back on the force after her attack at the end of Season 1

Will is watching Angie do her test in support and of course, he has Betty with him. It was his opportunity to both be there for Angie and remind her that no matter what, they are a family. And that family includes Betty.

Was Betty needed in episode 3 of Will Trent?
The problem with this scene is that it almost felt like they were forcing the Betty moment. And we love seeing Betty, but in this case, it didn’t feel like she was needed in the moment.

Of course, we will never be mad at getting a scene with Betty or the banter between Angie and Will over the dog and her affections. However, the fact that this was the only scene and we never saw the pup again made it feel like a throwaway moment that was done in service of those of us who are on the lookout for Betty.

Honestly, I really hope episode 4 does better by Betty because usually the scenes featuring her are really special or at the very least, they add something to the story, even in small ways. Betty is a major part of Will’s found family and his interactions with her and the people around him in relation to her are always gems.

But what did you think of this episode? Did you think the Betty scene was a throwaway? Do you love watching for those Betty moments too?

Because of the primarily prison setting for Will and his partner Faith, there was never really a chance to incorporate Betty into this episode. That being said, we did get a cute Betty moment to end this episode of Will Trent, and it included a moment with Nico as well.

After solving the case of the extortion and bombs, Will was back home and apparently trying to repair a broken toaster oven in his living room. Betty can be seen in the background staring at her dad as he struggles with not only trying to fix the toaster, but also with memories of trying to diffuse the bomb that killed Cricket in the first episode of this season of Will Trent.

Will Trent had to solve a massive case involving a prison, which meant we didn’t get as much Betty screen time

When Nico walks into the room, she immediately picks up Betty in order to bring the pup into the scene and makes her part of the discussion, and it was a nice moment of lightness that was much needed after everything that went down in the episode. The thing about Will Trent is that while it can have some lighter moments, it is also a relatively serious series, filled with criminal investigations, murders, mysteries, and more. So we rely on those Betty moments to give us a sense of lightness and fun.

We love seeing Betty on Will Trent for a lot of reasons. But a big reason for our appreciation of the pup is the fact that she creates such fun moments whether she is part of a scene with Will, Angie, or even Nico. This pup has helped create some fantastic scenes, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of Season 2 has to offer.

What did you think of the second episode? Were you disappointed with how little we got of Betty in this episode?
