WILL ESTES CONFESSES WHY HE COULD NEVER COMEBACK

Blue Bloods star Will Estes debuts new character look for season 14© Provided by FanSided

Will Estes is pulling out all the stops for his Blue Bloods character. The actor took to social media to confirm that he was already filming scenes for the upcoming final season, which makes sense given similar actions by co-star Donnie Wahlberg. What fans didn’t expect, however, was a radical change in Estes’ appearance.

As Jamie Reagan, the youngest of the show’s core siblings, Estes has spent over a decade sporting a clean-shaven, short haircut look. It made sense, especially when he had lower rank in the police department, and it’s something that was maintained well after he got promoted to sergeant.

Well, all that has changed. Estes hopped on Instagram to share a video of himself in character, and he was not only sporting a beard, but several tattoos! It was Jamie Reagan like we have never seen him before, and it caught pretty much the entire comment section off guard.
Many of the comments were about Estes’ new look, and what it could mean for his character in the final season of Blue Bloods. There’s a decent chance the character could be placed undercover in season 14, which would explain the suddenly tougher appearance, or perhaps there was a huge amount of time that passed between seasons 13 and 14, and the character decided to change it up.

Estes has talked about his desire to take the character in new directions in the past. He even talked about changing Jamie’s appearance during a 2022 interview with Onedio. “I’m trying to figure out how I can get Jamie Reagan to wear his hair down but I don’t believe it’s happening anytime soon,” he revealed.

Estes went as far as to suggest that the show should attempt a musical episode with Jamie at the center:

“I think [there] has to be [one]. There’re so many great songs,” he explained. “I think it would make for such a fun episode,’ he said. ‘And if we could pull it off, I don’t want to spoil too much, but if we could pull it off where it’s like the whole episode is a dream…a Blue Blood’s dream. I’d love that.”

While the chances of mounting a musical episode, in the show’s final season, are slim to none, it looks like Estes finally got his wish with regards to changing Jamie Reagan’s appearance. We’re excited to see how the change reflects the character’s attitude in 2024.

After 12 years on the air, it’s safe to say that “Blue Bloods” is one of the best cop shows of all time. So much sets “Blue Bloods” apart, but the show’s staying power comes from its characters. By following the Reagan family, “Blue Bloods” manages to be just as much a character drama as a police procedural.

Will Estes plays Jamie Reagan, the youngest in a family of dedicated NYPD officers. Jamie has changed a lot since the show’s early days. He starts out as a rookie on the force, but works his way up the ranks, saves lives, and even marries the woman of his dreams. Jamie has really come into himself, and Estes’ performance has kept fans invested in the character for more than a decade. Much like Jamie, Estes has been working for a long time. He started acting when he was just 10 years old, and he’s spent the majority of his life in front of one type of camera or another.

Let’s take a deep dive into Estes’ career history to see what makes the acting chops behind Jamie Reagan tick.

Every actor walks their own path in the industry, and Will Estes’ journey started very early in his life. Years ago, on an episode of “Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer,” Estes explained that since he grew up in Los Angeles, there were numerous opportunities for him to get interested in acting before he was even a teenager. “I just got introduced to a children’s agency, and I auditioned for them, and I did a bunch of commercials, and they sent me on to other stuff,” he said. Commercials led to TV roles that eventually blossomed into the career that Estes has today.
