1 Will Trent Reveal Sets Up Another Storyline In Season 2
The Will Trent season 1 finale showcased a shocking revelation in Will’s backstory, which will undoubtedly trickle over into season 2’s storyline.
Will learned the truth about his birth during the Will Trent season 1 finale, which might have laid the foundation for a storyline in season 2. During the series premiere, viewers discovered that Will was abandoned as a baby, so he grew up in the foster system. It wasn’t particularly kind to him, and he has the scars to prove it. However, his origin story is a little more complicated than once thought.
Will Trent started strong, but the new ABC procedural show really kicked things into high gear during season 1’s final two episodes. A serial killer from the ’80s resurfaced and started targeting people from Will and Angie’s foster home. During the investigation, Will discovered that his birth mother, whose identity he had never been privy to, was one of the murderer’s victims. She was a prostitute on Amanda’s beat, and her name was Lucy. Lucy gave birth to Will before she died, and Amanda later found him in a dumpster. Will Could Find His Father In Will Trent Season 2
Now that Will knows who his mother was, it’s time for him to learn his father’s identity in Will Trent season 2. Since Lucy’s killer, James Ulster, was one of her clients back in the day, the show initially made viewers wonder if he could be Will’s father. Thankfully, that isn’t the case, but if it was, that would have made Will’s story all the more tragic.
Will might meet his birth father when the show returns with new episodes. He’s one of the best agents in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, after all. If anyone could find someone, it’s Will. Plus, after learning more about his mother from Amanda, it’s plausible that Will would want to know who his father is or was, depending on whether he’s still alive in Will Trent season 2.
When Does Will Trent Season 2 Premiere?
The good news is that ABC renewed Will Trent for a second season a couple of weeks before the season 1 finale. The bad news is that its premiere date is unknown. As a response to the writers’ strike, ABC’s fall 2023 schedule is full of unscripted shows like Dancing With the Stars and the Bachelor franchise. Meanwhile, all the network’s scripted shows, including Will Trent, are tentatively being held for midseason (meaning spring 2024).
Since all scripted productions are currently paused, it might be a while before Will, Angie, Faith, Ormewood, and Amanda return to fans’ screens. But as least they don’t have to worry about a renewal during the writers’ strike. It will only be a matter of time before Will Trent season 2 premieres.
