Below Deck Down Under Deckhand Culver Bradbury has earned the title of worst deckhand ever. Culver has appeared on Below Deck Down Under seasons 1 and 2 and has made quite the impression. 32-year-old Culver is a Maryland native who now lives in Jacksonville, Florida. He has a very close relationship with his mother, Kim, and has had several scenes getting advice from her. Moreover, he is close with his whole family. Culver is dedicated to his fitness and nutrition and often appears shirtless during his Below Deck Down Under airtime.
Culver was once celebrated as one of the most popular deckhands from the franchise for his unofficial role as “Chief Entertainment Officer” aboard the yacht. Having pride over his ability to enhance guest experiences, Culver has shown he’s not afraid to get in costume and act silly for the guests. Culver has sparked several boatmances with his fellow female crew members. He had a flirtation with Brittini Burton during Below Deck Down Under season 1 and connections with Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Stewardess Jaimee Neale. He also had a makeout with guest Jourdi Bleu off-charter.
Culver Does Is Bad At His Deckhand Job
Captain Jason Chambers, the figurehead of Below Deck Down Under, has had very few positive things to say about Culver’s work ethic over the last two seasons. Furthermore, current Bosun João Franco has also condemned Culver’s on-deck manner to be lazy and flippant, further stating Culver has been performing below his experience. Culver’s fellow deck team members have criticized him for lacking any leadership qualities because he has no initiative. João and Captain Jason have made it clear this season that Culver is on the chopping block and needs to step up.
Culver’s obsession with eating regularly and ensuring he has his “shakes” have also become a problem that has impeded his performance. Culver is often filmed in the galley or trying to eat in the crew mess when he should be on deck with the rest of his team. Culver’s superiors have deemed him avoidant of duties and good at making it seem like he’s working when he is actually not.

Culver Does Not Respect The Hierarchy
Culver has shown a lack of respect for the hierarchy of the yacht. During the latest episode, Culver had unsavory words for Captain Jason that were within earshot of João. When João has tried to approach Culver about his need for improvement, Culver was agreeable to João’s face but totally disrespected him with insults under his breath as he walked away. There was also an incident during Below Deck Down Under season 1 where Culver was caught having drinks with the guests on charter and getting drunk in direct defiance of Captain Jason’s orders and vessel safety.
Culver Has Treated Women Interested In Him Badly
Culver is a good-looking guy who has swooned several Below Deck crew members with his chiseled physique, flirtations, and silly manner. During Below Deck Down Under season 1, Culver’s fellow deckhand Brittini Burton made it clear that she was attracted to Culver. Culver fed in to her interest but often left her advances hanging, making her question whether Culver was actually interested in her. Furthermore, Culver had a public bar makeout with one of the charter guests, which came as a blow and a surprise to Brittini.
This season on Below Deck Down Under, Culver caught the attention of Chef Tzarina. However, based on his actions, it appeared he was only using her to get fed. While he showed interest in Tzarina and even kissed her, he quickly dumped her for new stew Jaimee and never even apologized to Tzarina for the hurtful move. Culver has jumped in with both feet with Jaimee, but based on his past behavior, it may be a matter of time before he does something disrespectful to her.
Culver’s work ethic, disrespectful nature, and poor treatment of his romantic connections are the characteristics that make Culver the worst deckhand in Below Deck history. Culver has not taken criticism well and lashed out with words about those critical of him. He has also shown no signs of wanting to improve or being capable of changing his attitude. Questionably skilled Below Deck franchise deckhands in the past have either been fired or done the work to improve themselves. There are plenty more Below Deck Down Under episodes this season, so viewers will have to endure watching Culver’s bad behavior lest he gets fired.
